Welcome to Herlandia - ICYG 2017

18th International conference of young geologists 2017 will take place in March 30th - April 2nd in Dobczyce, Poland. The conference brings the opportunity for students and young geologists to present their scientific results and compare with their colleagues from other countries. The conference venue is rotating between Košice region - Herľany, Bratislava region and southern Poland region. This year we are in Dobczyce, Southern Poland region.

ICYG 2017 is hosted at Hotel Dobczyce in Dobczyce, near Cracow, Poland. The place is located about 30 km from Cracow. There are the parking slots available for conference participants next to the hotel.

This year field trip will take place in Bochnia salt mine, one of the oldest salt mines in the world and the oldest one in Poland.

We would like to invite you to the XVIIIth International Conference of Young Geologists (Herlany) that will take place in Dobczyce, Poland from  30.03 to 01.04.2017.

The conference is organized by AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Comenius University of Bratislava and Technical University of Kosice. It brings the opportunity for young professional geologists and graduate students to present their scientific achievements and discuss the results with their colleagues from other countries. It is also an excellent opportunity for networking to expand international collaboration. The conference venue is rotating between Košice region - Herľany, Bratislava region and southern Poland region. In 2017 the conference is hosted at the Hotel Dobczyce (ul. Jałowcowa 30, 32-410 Dobczyce) near Krakow, Poland. The place is located about 30 km from Krakow.

We sincerely invite you to submit abstracts concerning a variety of subjects in Geology and Earth Sciences: from petrology, paleontology, geophysics, hydrogeology, geoinformatics or geoengineering to environmental sciences. All abstracts are reviewed and will be published in Geology, Geophysics and Environment journal.

The conference consists of two days of oral presentations, a field trip to Bochnia Salt Mine and a workshop. A conference fee is 560 zł and includes accommodation and meals from Thursday to Saturday. Registration fee should be paid by 28.02.2017. Early birds accommodation from Wednesday to Thursday (as well as the night from Saturday to Sunday) are available at additional low cost.

Winners & Rudolf Mock Award 2017

The best presentations of the 18th International Conference of Young Geologists, Herl'any - Dobczyce 2017 were delivered by Karolina Rybka (experimental mineralogy), Adam Fheed (hydrocarbon reservoirs) and Michał Bukała (petrology). Michał Bukała received a the Rudolf Mock Award for the best conference contribution. Sponsorship and funding of the Award in 2017 by the OMYA Polska is greatly appreciated.
